Article 161 states:

In order to declare candidacy, the following things must accompany the declaration:...

• (7) A medical certificate attesting to physical and mental aptitude, conforming to the established criteria in Article 62 of the Constitution.

Article 217 states:

All citizens of both sexes of twenty-five years of age, who enjoy their civil and political rights, who can read and write French and have resided at least six months in the area are eligible.
