Article 9 states:
State shall ensure providing persons with disabilities with political rights such as: right to vote and to be elected, right to participate in different activities, right to consultation and to decide on important issues of the country, right to be nominated in functions of various levels of Party, State organizations, Lao Front for National Construction, mass organizations and local administrations.
Article 36 states:
Lao citizens aged eighteen years and above have the right to vote and those aged twenty years and above have the right to be elected, except insane persons, persons with mental disorders and persons whose rights to vote and to be elected have been revoked by a court.
Article 3 states:
All Lao citizens, irrespective of their sex, ethnic groups, religions, social status, place of residence, and profession, who are from18 years of age, have the right to vote; any one from 21 years of age has the right to be elected as a National Assembly member.
